2001-2010: For nearly a decade, the Compassionate Care Alliance of the Greater Sacramento Region was directed by CHCD.
This group of healthcare professionals and community members encouraging dialogue about end-of-life issues, provided Consumer Education,
Seminars for Health Professionals and Faith Leaders, and activities during California's
Health Care Decisions Week.
Impact:
- 7000+ area residents received education about medical decisions near the end of life.
- 207 educational sessions were conducted for senior, faith-based, community and healthcare organizations.
- 77 "lunch and learn" programs were held in local workplaces.
- 41% of employees attending these sessions reported it
had made a difference in how they consider end-of-life decisions.
- 265 faith leaders attended one of 8 annual Partners in Caring seminars.
- 250 health professionals were certified as Respecting Choices facilitators.
- Multiple community education events were held during
annual Health Care Decisions Week.
2011: Alliance educational activities were transferred to the Sacramento Area POLST Coalition, led by Eskaton.
CHCD is part of the Coalition's leadership team and provides oversight for its Speaker's Bureau.
